Informations :

  • Tri

Dangerous goods refer to nearly 3000 UN numbers, corresponding to identified substances or generic categories. A good, or more precisely a material or object, may be classified as dangerous when it is likely to cause serious consequences due to its physical and/or chemical properties, or because of the nature of the reactions it can trigger.

In order to allow the circulation of dangerous goods, there are regulations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (TDG) carried out by road (ADR), rail (RID), inland waterways (ADN), maritime (IMDG), or air (IATA). Among other things, TDG regulations require prior packaging for these types of goods with specific packaging. The 4GV box is part of the types of packaging approved for the transport of dangerous goods, according to IATA, RID, ADR, IMDG regulations...

E3 Cortex, a specialist in the design and manufacture of custom-made or standard packaging, offers you a range of 4GV boxes approved for all types of transport, in compliance with current regulations with the exception of classes 7 and 6.2, at ambient or controlled temperatures. Our 4GV insulated cardboard boxes can contain solids, liquids, or objects that must be transported at specific controlled temperatures (for example +2°C / +8°C or -40°C). The approval of these packages has been carried out by an accredited French body. Our UN-approved 4GV boxes are lightweight, economical, recyclable, easy to use, and available in stock. They come in several sizes depending on the products to be transported (weight and/or size). Custom approvals can also be developed depending on a feasibility study and customer needs.

The transport of dangerous goods requires specific packaging, such as the 4GV box…

As their name suggests, dangerous goods are risky goods. There are nine risk categories: explosive properties (class 1), gas risk (class 2), flammability (classes 3 and 4), oxidizers and peroxides (class 5), toxicity and infectious risk (class 6), radioactivity (class 7), corrosivity (class 8), and environmentally hazardous substances and objects (class 9). Some goods may contain several substances, each of which in turn falls into several hazard classes, for example hydrogen cyanide, which is toxic, flammable, and corrosive at the same time.

Like the 4GV box, approved packaging is a type of packaging that has undergone stacking, drop, and water resistance tests in accordance with the requirements set out in Chapter 6 of the ADR. When the tests are successful, an approval number is issued by a body approved by the national and international authorities in the field of the Transport of Dangerous Goods. Type X, Y, or Z approvals are granted depending on the danger of the product (packaging group). A type X approval is used for packaging containing very dangerous products (PG I). For moderately dangerous products (PG II), a type Y approval is preferred. And for low-risk products (PG III), only a type Z approval is required.

E3 Cortex offers you a complete range of approved 4GV boxes approved in X and by definition accepting all packaging groups. Our 4GV cardboard boxes for dangerous goods are approved for air, sea, road, and rail transport of dangerous products, in compliance with current regulations: IATA-approved packaging, ADR, IMDG, and RID.

For more than 30 years, we have been able to adapt our offers to the specific needs of each of our clients, with the constant concern of optimizing the quality of our products, in the field of dangerous, fragile, or temperature-sensitive products. Year after year, our structure has evolved to become a major and recognized player in this market. Our specialization is accompanied by continuous monitoring of the regulations on the transport of dangerous goods.

Find the 4GV box you need for your dangerous goods packaging and shipping!

E3 Cortex offers you the ideal 4GV box for the transport of dangerous and/or regulated goods in compliance with current international regulations. All our references are approved in 4GV, allowing the use of all types of inner containers or objects. This approved packaging can be combined with a 30mm thick polyurethane isothermal barrier (available in 40mm and 60mm) for the shipment of dangerous goods at controlled temperatures of all classes (except 6.2 and 7, please contact us for these).

To properly pack a dangerous product with a 4GV box, several conditions must be met: the 4GV box, the plastic bag (supplied with our boxes), the absorbent (vermiculite) to stabilize and/or absorb the liquid product(s), and finally the adhesive (as defined in the approval certificate) which seals the packaging. E3 Cortex can also supply vermiculite in anti-dust bags as an option.

As a reminder, 4G and 4GV packagings are two types of boxes approved by the UN, but the difference lies in the inner packaging that can be used with the box. More specifically, 4G boxes are only suitable if combined with the specific inner packaging identified in the approval certificate of the packaging, with which the boxes were tested and approved. The use of a 4G box must comply with the conditions of use described in its approval certificate. On the other hand, 4GV boxes can be used for the transport of objects or inner packaging of any type, for all types of liquid or solid materials in packaging groups I, II, and III.

Our wide range of approved 4GV boxes is aimed at customers in the chemical, logistics, petrochemical sectors, etc. Each 4GV box can be assembled and packed with your dangerous goods at our storage and dangerous goods packaging site in Mitry-Mory. Made of strong corrugated cardboard (heavy-duty quality), our approved 4GV packaging offers the required level to meet the physical demands of your transport and logistics, whether by land, air, or sea.

FAQ – Certified 4GV Box

The 4GV box is certified according to strict international standards. It is designed to contain dangerous goods with a much higher level of strength and safety than an ordinary box.

The 4GV box is specifically designed to accommodate different types of inner containers without requiring a specific type, within the limits of permitted weight and volume.

No, these boxes are for single use only. Any reuse will invalidate the certification.

Yes, as long as the material being transported meets the defined limits (volume, weight, type of container) and the packaging is properly sealed and labeled.
